Yandex.Lavka to invest 100 mln rbl in Nizhniy Novgorod business

MOSCOW, Jul 8 (PRIME) -- Express delivery service Yandex.Lavka, a unit of Russian Internet company Yandex, will invest about 100 million rubles over a year in expansion in Nizhniy Novgorod on the Volga, which will become its first city outside Moscow and St. Petersburg, a Yandex.Lavka spokesperson told PRIME on Wednesday.

“We picked this new base region by a wide list of criteria: Internet and smartphone penetration and people’s habit to order goods and services online, the frequency of use of other Yandex services, well-developed logistics,” Yandex.Lavka Operational Director Vadim Petrov said.

The service opened several warehouses, and free delivery will be done by couriers on bicycles and by taxi.
